If you wish to report abusive or illegal activity associated with a domain name registered through Varlox, please contact our dedicated abuse team:
Email is the preferred method of contact for abuse reports, as it allows us to process and track reports efficiently and maintain a written record of all communications.
2. What Constitutes Abuse
Varlox considers the following activities to constitute abuse in relation to domain names registered through our service:
- Malware Distribution: Domains used to host, distribute, or facilitate the installation of malicious software, including viruses, trojans, ransomware, and spyware.
- Phishing: Domains used to impersonate legitimate businesses, organisations, or individuals for the purpose of fraudulently obtaining personal information, credentials, or financial data.
- Spam: Domains used as part of unsolicited bulk email campaigns or to host content promoted through spam.
- Trademark Infringement: Domains registered or used in bad faith that infringe upon the registered trademarks of third parties.
- Illegal Content: Domains used to host or distribute content that is illegal under applicable law, including but not limited to child sexual abuse material, content promoting terrorism, or content facilitating fraud.
- Botnets and Command & Control: Domains used as part of botnet infrastructure or command and control systems for malicious purposes.
- DNS Abuse: Domains involved in pharming, DNS hijacking, or other forms of DNS-related abuse.
3. How to Report Abuse
When submitting an abuse report, please include as much of the following information as possible to help us investigate promptly:
- Domain name(s): The specific domain name(s) involved in the abusive activity.
- Type of abuse: A clear description of the type of abuse (e.g., phishing, malware, spam, trademark infringement).
- Evidence and URLs: Specific URLs, screenshots, email headers, log files, or other evidence demonstrating the abusive activity.
- Date and time: When you first observed the abusive activity, including timezone if possible.
- Your contact information: Your name, email address, and, if applicable, the organisation you represent, so that we can follow up with you if needed.
- Trademark information: For trademark-related complaints, include the trademark registration number, jurisdiction, and evidence of the infringement.

4. Response Timeline
Varlox is committed to addressing all abuse reports in a timely manner:
- Acknowledgement: We will acknowledge receipt of your abuse report within 24 hours.
- Investigation: We will begin our investigation within 48 hours of receiving a complete report. For urgent matters involving imminent harm (such as active phishing or malware distribution), we will prioritise the investigation and may take immediate action to mitigate the threat.
- Resolution: Depending on the nature and severity of the abuse, actions may include contacting the domain registrant, suspending the domain, or referring the matter to the appropriate authorities.
5. Actions We May Take
Following an investigation, Varlox may take one or more of the following actions:
- Issue a warning to the domain registrant
- Require the registrant to remove offending content within a specified timeframe
- Suspend or disable the domain name
- Cancel the domain registration
- Report the matter to law enforcement authorities
- Cooperate with the relevant registry to take appropriate action
6. Cooperation with Law Enforcement and Registries
Varlox cooperates fully with law enforcement authorities and domain registries in the investigation and resolution of abuse cases. We will comply with valid legal requests, court orders, and lawful instructions from competent authorities.
In accordance with Nominet's policies and our obligations under the Nominet Registrar Agreement, Varlox will cooperate with Nominet in addressing abuse reports related to .uk domain names. This includes responding to requests from Nominet's compliance team and taking action as directed under Nominet's abuse policies.
We also cooperate with other registries including but not limited to EURid (.eu), SIDN (.nl), DENIC (.de), AFNIC (.fr), and Red.es (.es) in accordance with their respective abuse handling procedures.
7. Confidentiality
Abuse reports are treated as confidential. We will not disclose the identity of the reporter to the domain registrant unless required by law or with the reporter's express consent. However, we may need to share report details with law enforcement, registries, or other relevant parties as part of the investigation process.
